ELK RAPIDS - Jeanne Boyd said she was "flabbergasted" when she found out she was named Sacred Heart Catholic Church's 2008 Mother of the Year, because she has no surviving children.

Hetler Contributing Writer ANTRIM COUNTY - Republican candidates for the 105th District seat in the state legislature are dropping right and left . . ., well, right anyway, with the word from Rep. Kevin Elsenheimer that he is running for his seat after all. Elsenheimer, R-Bellaire, announced in late March that he was a candidate for the Michigan Court of Appeals and would not seek re-election to the legislature. But on Saturday, May 3, it was learned that he is withdrawing from the run for the Court of Appeals and is now a candidate for a third term in the state House.
