"For the boys, they're coming back. Hopefully this carries them into the regionals doing well." After opening the season with a third place in the first Lake Michigan Conference competition, the Elks have struggled to reach that spot again. They fell all the way down to sixth a couple of weeks ago, but bounced back with a fourth place in the final meet before the league championships. With their second place finish at the Bellaire meet, the Elks hope to build some momentum heading into the regional where they need to finish at least third to qualify for state. The top 10 individuals will go to the finals. Connor Dittrich led off in giant slalom for the Elks, coming in fifth overall. He was 30th in the slalom run. Enjoying an even better day was Cam Schaefer, who finished eighth in the giant slalom and ninth in slalom. Chris Craig was 11th in giant slalom and 15th in slalom. Gabe Leaf finished 12th in giant slalom, and took 11th in slalom. Andrew Coates was 18th in giant slalom and 14th in slalom.
